About Makerspace Maldives
Makerspace Maldives started with a simple idea: everyone in the Maldives should have access to the tools, skills, and community they need to make things — whether that's a repaired appliance, a prototype for a new business, or a first woodworking project.
Space is precious on our islands, and workshop tools are expensive to own. By sharing one well-equipped workshop, hundreds of people get access to 3D printers, laser cutters, electronics benches, and wood tools that few could justify buying alone.
We're a community first. Members help each other, classes are taught by local makers, and the projects that come out of the space — from school science projects to small-business products — stay in and strengthen our local economy.
What we believe
- ✦Anyone can make. Our beginner classes assume zero experience, and our instructors love first-timers.
- ✦Safety without gatekeeping. Short inductions get you certified on real machines quickly and safely.
- ✦Repair over replace. We champion fixing things — good for your wallet, better for our islands.
- ✦Local making, local economy. We help small businesses prototype and produce here at home.
